He is something that really has been a long time coming from what I can gather. I keep seeing his work around and it is something that keeps jumping out at me. His work is something that has inspired me from the first time I saw it a few months ago.
My college likes to have a sale once a year where they sell a bunch of art prints. The only downfall is is that they don't take credit. They only take cash. This could be a good thing considering the fact that due to Christmas and just a lot of crap in general I'm falling farther and farther in debt, but back to my point.
I was walking around looking at the different works and then I saw this beautiful set that were all sitting together. I was drawn in by the delicate female figures and thought to myself "That is what I wish I could draw". I didn't have the cash on me, so I took a few pictures to remember that I had seen it so at some point I could look into this work again.
Then yesterday I was at Barnes and Nobles. I just keep going to places where I know I'm going to spend money. I'm a dangerous person I have to say. I must intentionally tempt myself, that's all there is to it. But either way, I was walking around since I had just bought my dad's Christmas present. So I gave myself a bit of free time. I went into the art book section and was inspired to buy books for my future classroom. But somehow I didn't. So I walked away!
Then I walked into the calender section. I like them, they are useful and sometimes a whimsical picture is the kind of thing that gets you through the month. I really didn't expect to find anything, but then I saw two calenders. They were both Alphonse Mucha. He had come again.
After that I went online and started looking into his works. The more that I find the more beautiful they seem to be. They look a lot like a number of art series that I would love to start working on. Maybe series that I will have the time work on when I'm on break. This may start a whole new level of creativity.
So let me share more of his work with you. When I was parussing around on the interwebs I found a great resource for Mucha. It is actually the Mucha Foundation. They fund projects that involve his work and really just keep his memory alive in the art world.
