Another blog! Oh no, it must be the end of the world that I yet again have the time to type something up that has the least bit of thought. No, the end of the world is not nigh. Or at least it isn't in my world since I think the 2012 thing is just poppycock. No I just need to take the time this morning to get my thoughts out and this blog has become that kind of place. That and I finished a test earlier this morning and got out of class almost and hour early and I have four before I am suppose to be in my next class. Great reasoning, right?
Well I suppose I should go on to explain what the whole deal with this obsessive title is. It has to do with the kind of personality that I have. No, that doesn't mean that I go out and stalk people (my boyfriend swears he loves spending all the time with me!), but that I really get into things when they catch my interest. This includes things such as: Pokemon when I was ten, anime for a long period of my life, Okami (see my previous blog on the subject) and now Game of Thrones.
It seems to be, much like many things I like, a trend that started quite a while before I got into it. And I guess it was this popularity that brought me around to it. I had heard here and there that there was a show on HBO called Game of Thrones. It didn't really register with me due to the fact that I don't have that channel. Dish Network likes to let me fall in love with it for free and then take it away. Stupid!
Either way, so I went the cheaper option, reading the book from my local library. And I could go on a little rant about that by the way. I'll be calling that the Kindle Affair. Sounds very exciting right? So I get this book and it is huge! I saw a girl in my Geography class reading the book and it looked way smaller! Then again, it was a paper back and mine is heavy and hard.
But I decided to try it out, after all I was that kid that read the first 4 Harry Potter books 10 times each because I was waiting for the next one to come out. Yes, I was hardcore or just a total nerd, take your pick.
And now I have done a few things in the few weeks that I have had this book. I have fallen in love with it, I must watch this show, and I'm listening to a Podcast about the show. This is something that I tend to do when I start reading something. Since not many people want to take the time to talk about books and everything, I listen to other people that have enough passion to make something from it.
Now to explain the obsession part, some would say the above paragraph is going a little out of the way. If not for school, I would eat, sleep, and breathe books, but somehow it never works...they're made of paper which has no nutritional value. Dang! But when I get into something, I try to learn everything about it due to the fact that I find it interesting. Plus when you have a lot of time to yourself and that time only seems to be growing, you find things that keep your mind from a sad place. So in a few blogs, I'm sure I will be sharing the news of all the political butt kicking knowledge I have about Game of Thrones.
And don't think I forgot about the Kindle Affair. It was a very good transition, talking about it and then not at all right? Well it is just a crazy little thing that Boyfriend did. We were bored, as you do, so we decided to go to Best Buy.
This because I wanted to go and look at Kindles. I've decided to break down and try out an e-reader, but I'm sure that I will still buy tons of paper books. I just want to read them in a compact place too. So we go in, Boyfriend maybe looks at them with me for five minutes before he gets distracted by the new Microsoft computer. This led him away for a good 20 minutes, talking about how amazing it was, all the while as he drooled all over the floor. He is such a nerd...
But so I'm looking at what they have available and what is within my budget range. This is not a very wide range until I finally pay off my car. Only $900 left to go! So I was looking at one that was about $70, not a very well lit screen like what I was hoping for, but it could hold books and this would make me happy.
All the while I'm doing this, my Boyfriend notices what I'm doing and is finally able to come over. Apparently before he had been looking at Kindles online and saw the one that I would much rather have. It is the Kindle Paperwhite with illuminated background, small, and just a beautiful thing. It also is $120 which is out of my budget range. So I'm looking here and my Boyfriend knows that I would much rather have this one then the crappy little one I'm looking at. But Best Buy doesn't have it so I'm standing there considering.
And this is when he takes the chance to just go on his phone, go to Amazon.com and hits buy! Without a thought he spends over $100! This is crazy to me due to the fact that I'm all about budgeting and only buying things when I have saved some things back. I wish I could be crazy like that and not have a worry.
So from here on out, he has been teasing me every time he sees me reading a book. "Man, wouldn't it be nice if you had a Kindle. You'd be reading in some light. It would be so light to carry around." And the worst part is, is I don't know if he'll let me have it when it comes in the mail or I'm going to have to wait until Christmas knowing that he has it in his possession. Things like this kill me. I will be going insane very shortly.
Well I think I have regaled you with enough tales today. Until next time then!
