| Why is a sheep happy it's the weekend? I really have no idea. I guess they need a break from being sheep sometimes |
After a day that started off with awesome, the gang got together and that always makes for more happy time. We're young and we're bored, so of course we go rolling around town. Daria had to buy toothpaste, so to Walfart we went! Then to the local music store so we could bum around and my boyfriend as well as Daria's could come out to meet us. From then on we bounced from one place to another.
We went to my Valentine's house to pick up her car, drop off my boyfriends and then to meet up with the rest of the group from there. This little thing called hunger got in the way though and we ended up with chilly cheesy fries in our bellies.
I know, this is all so action packed. I promise you, it gets only better.
So we end up staying around Tom's house by the time we get there. We play with cats, watch family guy and recall the days of when this crazy thing called "Old Greg" was on YouTube and proceeded to watch it. Though the whole time, it may have just been me, there was uneasiness in the air. My Valentine was missing her man. We hadn't been able to get a hold of him all day because he was out running around with another friend.
Now, this wouldn't normally be a problem, but it is when it's two couples and you. I tried to do what I could to not make her feel so bad. But the minute you return to your man's lap, you feel that sad all over again. So I would think it natural that she didn't want to stick around all that long.
So around 10:30 or so, she decides that she wants to leave. Now, she lives quite close to Tom. Like a few roads over. So when she said that she wanted to go, my boyfriend and I agreed because we had to pick up his car at some point. From there, it sounded like we would be coming right back.
We didn't tell Daria and Tom this though...yes rude on our part, but when you're not thinking about it, it feels like a good idea. Oh to be young.
So we head off and once we're in the driveway of my Valentine, I get a call on my phone. It's Daria asking where we are. I'm not going to go into the details. I still love my friends, but there were angry words on the phone and I was shocked. It was made to sound as if our friendship were over because we ran to Valentine's and didn't say anything about it.
I felt awful and I still do. My Valentine went into the house and my boyfriend and I waited for the car to warm up. We tried to call back, but the phone went to voice mail. I assumed that we were in trouble.
So as we head back to my house, I composed a message explaining the situation. Since my calls wouldn't be taken, this was all I could see that I could do.
As I type, it still weighs heavy on my mind. I even went so far as to send a text to Tom and tell him about it as well. I've not heard a thing. So I hope that something like this won't bring the end of a friendship that I have come to value.
And that was only Saturday night.
I'm happy to say that my Sunday was much better. It was filled with sleeping and going to the bookstore to get the novel, The Girl Who Kicked the Hornet's Nest. Wonderful third book in the series of the Girl With the Dragon Tattoo. So far I'm loving it by the way.
It was after we did this, that things got interesting. Now, I'm not one for directions so I live only through the grace that my driver knows where they're going. Yeah...I'm sure you can see where this is going. Somehow we manage to get lost between Barnes & Noble and my house....for close to half an hour because we were trying to "take the shorter way" home and to buy some milk. Yeah....
So, the exciting part. As we're wondering out in the middle of nowhere, we come to the realization that the road is wet. Do you know how? Let me tell you. The car started to freaking slide as we were going around a turn, down a hill. From there we proceed to slide into the other lane.
I saw my life flashing before my eyes, I kid you not. My mother and her paranoia have taken over my life. So as my boyfriend is taking control, I'm seeing my own death splatted in a ditch on the side of the road. Thankfully he took care of it through what I called the power of "Tokyo Drifting". Let me just say that cars scare me a bit more now than when I'm just driving them.
After that, my boyfriend turned around and we back tracked so we knew where we were again. Then I went home, thinking about the pumpkin muffins my mother had made so that I didn't have to give myself another heart attack.
Is that what you call an interesting weekend or what? A bit more than just my daily musing, but I could do without the friend sadness and dying sadness.
